Dr. Jonathan Fridhandler

Dr. Jonathan Fridhandler was born and raised in Calgary. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto where he was awarded the prestigious Cody Gold Medal for finishing top of his medical school graduating class. He subsequently underwent specialty training in Neurology at the University of British Columbia during which time he served as chief neurology resident and completed his certification in electromyography through the Canadian Society of Clinic Neurophysiologists. He returned to the University of Calgary to complete a fellowship in Multiple Sclerosis and Neuroimmunology in 2018.

Dr. Fridhandler has been practicing as a general neurologist and electromyographer at the Alberta Neurologic Centre since its opening in 2018 and became a co-owner and managing partner in 2019. He started an outreach neurology clinic in Canmore in 2021. He has been the ANC Multiple Sclerosis Clinic medical director since 2023.

 

Dr. Fridhandler previously worked at the South Health Campus Multiple Sclerosis clinic but in May 2023 he launched a new, multidisciplinary, community-based Multiple Sclerosis Clinic at ANC in response to the growing need for access to patient-centred MS care in Southern Alberta.

Dr. Fridhandler has an interest in creating innovative models for sustainable, publicly funded healthcare in the community. He is currently completing an executive MBA at the Smith School of Business at Queens University to hone his skills as a medical administrator and business consultant. 

 

On his days off, Dr. Fridhandler is usually in the mountains biking, hiking or skiing with his family and dogs.
